Genesis Updates

Jason from "Genesis"
I plan to start a major rewrite of the story "Genesis." I have some ideas on how to improve some of the important chapters to make them more engaging to readers. "Genesis" is an unusual Science Fiction story that includes mystery and romance. I recently created a logline to describe it quickly. Please see the logline below.

Cast for, "Genesis"
Logline:
A genetically modified teen heartthrob who wants access to his father's research discovers he has an identical twin brother who lives captive in a bio-prison and aligns with him to stop their parents from destroying the world.

You can let me know if you get the gist of the story from the above longline.

Thank you for time and participation! I will get back to working on my class assignments and my thesis project, "Genesis."

Philip K Dick Inspired

Picture of Philip K Dick

Today's post is about Philip K Dick inspired films. I know we already discussed him in a previous post. The topic of Philip K Dick came up in one of my classes today, so I thought he would be the perfect person to write about today! He is one of my favorite Science fiction writers.

I have plenty of drawing to do for my classes so this post is going to be short and sweet! I am posting trailers of film that derived from either Philip K Dicks short stories or novels.

Our Science Fiction Enviroment Likes

Hello, Science Fiction lovers everywhere!

I am happy to announce I published episode 4 of my episode interactive story, "It is Not What You Think." Check it out on the Episode Interactive App, and let me know what you think.  I am currently working on several environment based homework assignments, which is tough for me since I am a texture and character artist. I prefer to draw people and characters. What I love most of all is rendering.

What makes science fiction movies and science fiction art backgrounds so engaging is the hyperrealism and the sleek design. Consider movies like the "Terminator," "Prometheus," and "Predator" (I wrote a movie review about, "The Predator"). You can tell me what you like or expect in science fiction environments. I am eager to find out what you think.

Review of "The Predator"

Hello all,

I just saw the new "Predator," movie. The technology in this movie is amazing. Predator has taken their tools and machinery to another level. I was pretty satisfied with this movie. It delivered on the areas you expect the franchise to deliver on!

It was action packed and the "Predator," was a formidable opponent for its human counterpart. I don't want to spoil the movie for you so I will keep this last part in general terms. The way the Ultimate predator was defeated was a bit dissapointung.

I do recommend you go see it if you like science fiction. I strongly recommend it if you are a fan of the Predator franchise.

This my short and sweet review of, "The Predator."

If you saw, "The Predator," let me know what you think.

I look forward to your responses.

Qetesha's Science Fiction Updates!

I hope Everyone Enjoys the weekend!

I have a busy day planned for today, which includes writing and drawing. I hope to squeeze in a visit to the movie theater to see, "The Predator."
A rendering of my resume and website image

As an artist working her MFA in Visual Development, I have three classes and plenty of homework to keep me busy! I have to complete 2 comic book pages with several panels for my Graphic Novel Course. This will is a time consuming and complex task. I must get the layouts correct also make sure the perspective and proportions are accurate. The Graphic Novel Script I am working with requires 1pt, 2pt, and 3pt perspective.
A drawing I completed for a class

I am completing the assignment in ClipStudio. It is the best software I discovered for drawing and digital painting! I use it for everything, including drawing epic Science Fiction scenes.

I find Wacom Tablets are the best choice for digital artists like myself. The experience is close to natural drawing (drawing by hand). I shared a few tips for aspiring digital artists/visual development artists. I welcome you to share any tips you may have for me in the comments section below.

I look forward to your responses.

Let's Talk Science Fiction!

I hope everyone is having an amazing Friday! My Friday has been productive!

Found on: chimes.biola.edu

I got a lot of drawing done 😍, but not much writing. 😢

Today's topic is, "What is Science Fiction?"

Science Fiction was invented by Mary Shelley when she wrote the novel, "Frankenstein." This story has a good message and is well written. The story explored alchemy, ethics, love, loss, and parental responsibility (Creator to creation responsibility).

The story of Frankenstein is entertaining and philosophical with an underline theme most people can find relatable.  Mary Shelley set the framework for many talented science fiction writers to follow.

Science fiction is a genre based on logic and rational thought. When the impossible happens in science fiction, it is explained by the technology that exists in the imaginary world in the book or movie. Often times the technology written from the active minds of creative science fiction writers inspires technology we enjoy today. The waterbed was first written about in a science fiction novel.

Science Fiction inspires us, teaches us, and entertains us.

You Choose Your Science Fiction Blog Topic

Self Portrait

I hope everyone is doing well. I am a bit tired, however, I must persevere.  Today is the first day of class and I have plenty of homework to complete. Drawing more will only allow me to improve as an artist!

Today is about you:) This is your chance to give me your topic suggestions. Tell me the topics you want to cover in the realm of science-fiction and I will likely create a science fiction blog post on that topic.

I really would love this science fiction blog to be a discussion between people who are passionate about science fiction.

Post your ideas for topics for this science fiction blog and we can start a two-way conversation.

Thank you for your time:)

"Genesis," My Science Fiction Project

The Main Characters for "Genesis"

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. I had a productive one. I spent the weekend drawing and writing.

Today's topic is about, "Genesis."
"Genesis" is an illustrated novel that I plan to publish next year and it is also the theme of my thesis project.

Cover Art for Genesis

I went through the whole midpoint review process and my project was approved. It was plenty of work. The PDF totals 172 pages. I followed the format my school laid out and felt too long, however, I did not receive any complaints that it was too long in the presentation. It was the correct length. Can you imagine creating a proposal that is 172 pages with the majority of it being drawings? Completing the proposal shook my universe! Now it is time to work on completing the thesis project which requires more precision and complete compositions. I am excited to move on to the next phase.

Science Fiction: the Visual Development Artist

Happy Holiday Everyone!

Self Portrait in My Portfolio

I hope all you are dancing and celebrating:)

I list myself a Visual Development Artist on my resume. When I am asked, "What type of artist are you?" I answer, "A Visual Development Artist."
I think this causes some confusion for some people because I am often referred to a graphic designer. One look at my portfolio and it is clear that is not the case.

Most people understand the role of a graphic designer. I will not get into those details.

Sometimes the roles of the graphic designer and visual development artist cross paths. Both type of art professionals art capable of logo design, advertising illustrations, flyers, banners, etc.

My Resume

You should seek out a visual development artist for the following jobs: Storyboarding, Concept art, Creature design, Alien Design, Super Hero Design, Illustration and layout for your graphic novel or comic book, Cover art (magazines, novels, interactive stories, albums, websites, posters, etc.) Concept art for trailers, vehicle designs and machines for live action and animation, Animal concept art realistic or hybrid

The role of the visual artist is important to Science Fiction Visual Storytelling. Most of the ideas found in a science fiction publication, video, film, or video games were designed by visual development artists.

I hope this science fiction clear up any confusion anyone may have had about the type of art the visual development artist produces.

Thank you for your time as usual!
If anyone cares to add or clarify the role of the visual development artist, you are welcomed to do so in the comment section.

I wish you all well!!!!

All about Predator

Image found at screen Geek

I'm excited about today's "Predator," discussion. I must ask: Am I the only person that thinks a new predator film is overdue? The "Predator," franchise is beloved by many Science Fiction fans everywhere. If you love "Predator," please leave a comment below and tell us why!

"Predator," as a character is dynamic and well developed. The writers and directors for this series were thoughtful and clever in creating this story. The writer of the original film is Jim Thomas and the director is John McTiernan. I wonder if they phantom that it would be such a hit and remain relevant today?

When I first saw predator it was long after the release day in 1987. I must have seen it at around age 12. I was sold on the film and lucky for me I was able to see a few subsequent sequels immediately because they were already released. I feel sorry for those who had to wait for each of the films to be released.

I was ecstatic when "Alien vs Predator" was announced. I thought to myself, two of my favorite franchises are coming together. It was an entertainment dream come true. When I saw it, I was pleased with the results. Both creatures were portrayed as true to form.  I think most fans of either franchise would have loved the way the film played out.

As this science fiction blog entry is longer than I imagined it would be when I initiated it, I will end it now. No worries! This is definitely to be continued.

Please post your comments below and let me know if there is a particular direction you want part 2 to go. I listen well to feedback:)

See you, next entry:)
